Davidsson return confirmed

With little more than 48 hours until the Lakeside Hammers kick off their 2011 Sky Sports Elite League campaign the Club have today confirmed that their Swedish favourite Jonas Davidsson will return to the side in his trusted No.4 position in the line-up for the tough clash with track experts, the Wolverhampton Wolves.

The Wolves are the most successful of all visitors to the Arena-Essex Raceway and present a glamorous opposition led by Swedish veteran, popular visitor Peter Karlsson plus England’s great white hope Tai Woffinden not to mention Grand Prix rider Freddie Lindgren.

Davidsson replaces Polish star Piotr Swiderski in the Hammers team after the Club decided that they could wait no longer for a firm decision from the PZM (Polish Federation) on lifting a ban on the rider, and several of his fellow countrymen, from racing abroad amid rumours that a meeting later this week was likely to remove the measure.

The Hammers Co Promoter Jon Cook commented: “It’s great to welcome JD back, albeit on a short term basis, until Piotr is all clear to return.

“He has sent an engine and other equipment over with Greg Hancock who is racing at Poole tonight (Wednesday) and with the loan of a chassis from Martin Hagon he will be very well prepared for this challenging meeting.

“Piotr is hoping to be back sooner rather than later but we can’t go past mid week not knowing what our line-up will be on Friday and this represents our strongest line-up possible for a mouth-watering opening fixture”.

The Meeting starts at 8pm with the rider parade scheduled for 7.45pm.

The two line-ups are as follows:-

Lakeside Hammers – Lee Richardson (Great Britain), Kauko Nieminen (Finland), Adam Shields (Australia), Jonas Davidsson (Sweden), Peter Ljung (Sweden), Robert Mear (Great Britain) & Kyle Legault (Canada.)

Wolverhampton Wolves – Fredrik Lindgren (Sweden), Ludvig Lindgren (Sweden), Tyron Proctor (Australia), Tai Woffinden (Great Britain), Peter Karlsson (Sweden), Tyson Burmeister (U.S.A.) & Ricky Wells (U.S.A.).
