Lewis is a Hammer for 2013

The Lakeside Hammers are delighted to confirm that Lewis Bridger will be joining the club for the forthcoming season, in a swap deal with local rivals Eastbourne which will see Hammers asset and former Captain Adam Shields returning to the Sussex based club.

Bridger showed his liking for the Raceway circuit in the Lee Richardson Memorial meeting, taking second place behind Darcy Ward, and ahead of a host of the Worlds top riders. The British rider will also be linking up again with Hammers Co- Promoter Jon Cook, who first put Lewis into the Elite League aged just 16.

Cook commented “We are all absolutely delighted to have agreed this deal. It’s a great move for Lewis and Adam, as both need a new start in familiar surroundings and for our part we are confident we can get Lewis back on the path towards heat leader status and international achievement.  He is still one of the most talented motorcyclists in this sport and I will be working with him to achieve his goals.”

On the departure of former Captain Shields, Cook added “I am pleased that Adams love for speedway has returned and after a rough few years it makes sense that he returns at a track where he feels most comfortable. He’s been a great servant to the Hammers but it’s not the greatest secret that he didn’t always enjoy having the Raceway as a home track”.
