Hammers V Wolves Preview

Edward-Kennett-Lakeside-Hammers-Speedway_Anticlockwise-PhotographyLakeside are gearing up for a mouth-watering top of the table clash as they host high-flying Wolverhampton at the Arena-Essex Raceway on Wednesday (7.30).

The Vortex Hammers have been in dominant form on home shale but are anticipating a major challenge as they welcome a Wolves side who have themselves enjoyed an impressive start to the season.

The Purfleet outfit head into the meeting with a slender one-point advantage over the Monmore Green side at the top of the Elite League standings.

The Hammers will be at full strength, with Edward Kennett retaining his place in the side ahead of Piotr Swiderski.

Kennett knows they will need to be at the top of their game to come out on top in front of the Sky TV cameras – but he has called on them to repeat their convincing display against Leicester last week in their bid to earn three more points.

“It’s been a good start to the season and there is a good team spirit within the side,” Kennett said.

“We’re looking very strong at home, and if we can just pick up a few more points away then we’ll be in a good position to make the top four. We’ve got a tough one coming up on Wednesday against Wolverhampton. I think it’ll be difficult, because they have a lot of good riders.

They are in good form and could cause some problems around Lakeside, but if we ride like we did against Leicester then I think we can beat anyone.”

Lewis Bridger will drop to reserve for the Hammers with Lewis Kerr moving into the No.4 spot.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton are led by former Grand Prix star Fredrik Lindgren and also feature former Lakeside favourite Mikkel Bech.

The main meeting will be preceded by three heats of junior racing, starting at 7pm.
