Aces claim the points

The Belle Vue Aces took the three Elite League points this evening, with a convincing 52-41 victory over the Vortex Lakeside Hammers.

The Essex team were hit by the withdrawal of Edward Kennett earlier in the day following an injury picked up riding for Rye House over the weekend, whilst Mikkel Bech was also forced to withdraw from the meeting after taking his three programmed rides, due to his recent wrist injury which he picked up during a crash in heat 15 the last time to two sides met at Kirkmanshulme Lane.

Guest Dakota North, in for the injured Kim Nilsson, was the star of the show for the Hammers, top scoring with 15, paid 16,  skipper Andreas Jonsson scored 13, including a 6 point tactical, whilst Richard Lawson scored 7.

The Aces were in control throughout the first half of the meeting, establishing a 14 point lead by heat 9, although Jonsson’s tactical victory in the 10th helped to reduce the lead slightly.  Jonsson and North teamed up to end the meeting with a 5-1 in the nominated heat, but with R/R only delivering 4 points, and the Aces reserves outscoring their Hammers counterpart by 11 points, not helped in part by bike issues for Adam Ellis, an away point always remained out of the Hammers grasp.
