Blown away by The Stars

Lakeside_Leicester_TGS011

The Lakeside Vortex Hammers were blown away tonight by the fast gating King’s Lynn Stars at The Adrian Flux Arena, losing 58-34 in front of the Sky Sports cameras.  In blustery conditions, 16 year old  Robert Lambert shone for the home team, scoring a memorable paid 18.

The young Brit got the better of Hammers captain Andreas Jonsson in the very first heat, following which the Stars then opened up an early meeting advantage, forcing the Hammers to use Jonsson as their nominated tactical ride by heat 6.

Both Stars riders Nicklas Porsing and Lewis Kerr were forced to withdraw injured by heat 7, but despite the on-going efforts of Ellis, the lack of fire power from and bike issues at times for The Hammers middle order, meant that the away team were unable to capitalise and claw any of the points deficit  back.  It took until heat 10 for the Essex team to register a heat win, when Jonsson took the chequered flag, with Nilsson originally in second before picking up too much grip on the 2nd bend and allowing Schlein through.

Ellis took only the Hammers second heat victory of the evening in the second reserves race in heat 12, but the night belonged to Lambert who again took the flag ahead of Jonsson and Nilsson in the nominated heat 15.

The Hammers will be looking for quick revenge when the two teams meet back at The Raceway this coming Good Friday 3rd April, with the first race at 1pm.
