Captain’s call to arms

“This is D-Day for our Elite League aspirations” says Lakeside Hammers Captain Lee Richardson, ahead of this Friday’s Play Off deciding visit of the Peterborough Panthers to the Arena-Essex Raceway, the home of The Lakeside Hammers.

With the team now reduced to just three full time Hammers riders for the meeting against the Panthers the Club’s No.1 says he, and his team mates, are even more determined to keep in a magical top four position in the League table to enable them to continue their League season into September.  Lee Richardson stated: “Nobody should write us off just yet. We have come a long way as a team over the last two months and our spirit is excellent.

The fans have got behind us ever since Adam’s (Shields) injury and although we are depleted again on Friday I know we can get the result we need. Young Kim (Nilsson) and Robert (Mear) represent a glowing future for the Club and their form at home has been tremendous and with decent guests plus Kauko (Nieminen) back, we are going all out for the three vital League points up for grabs that we need to keep the League season alive going into next week’s home meeting against Birmingham.”

The action gets underway against the Peterborough Panthers at the Arena-Essex Raceway at 8pm this Friday with the Grand Parade of Riders scheduled for 7.45pm. Prior to the League match there will be a series of four races, starting at 7pm, involving eight British Under 16 riders, with four riders in each of the 125cc and 250cc classes.

Admission prices are: Adults – £16, Senior Citizens, Students and Disabled – £12, Unemployed and Children aged 17 and 18 – £10, Children aged 6 to 16 inclusive – £1 with children under 6 – Free if accompanied by an paying adult.
