In the workshop with George Hunter

George Hunter_ Lakeside Hammers Speedway

Time for a workshop catch up with another of our local Essex boys and new Hammer George Hunter.

New season – hopes and aims?

I’m hoping for a fit and healthy season! I’m aiming to get my average up by a point to be considered as a reserve in the higher leagues for next season.

What equipment are you running?

Jawa frames, Stuha forks, GM engines and Blixt carbs

Best thing about being a speedway rider?

That’s a hard question,  but I guess it’s being able to race pretty much every week through the season and having fun on my bike!

Worst thing?

The crashes and injuries..

How did you first start speedway?

Alfie (Bowtell) and I raced motocross together, he then tried speedway and told me to give it a go, and I loved it ever since!!

Favourite tracks?

I wouldn’t say I really have a favourite, but I guess Rye House as I’ve done the most laps there and had my best results there.

Favourite ever rider?

Jason Doyle

Pre-meeting rituals?

A few stretches, get my goggles ready and sort the programme out!

Message for the Hammers fans?

When the idea of riding for The Lakeside Hammers came about, it was easy decision to join the team! Being a local lad, riding for a local team really is amazing.  I’m excited for the year ahead and getting to know you all, I can’t wait to see all your faces track side!
