Countdown to action!

Ben-Morley_Lakeside-Hammers-Speedway_-Credit-Anticlockwise-PhotographyTeenage ace Jack Parkinson-Blackburn is looking forward to linking up with Lakeside team manager Kelvin Tatum when he guests for the Hammers on Sunday.

The 16-year-old stands in for injured No.1 Zach Wajtknecht in the big Travel Plus National League fixture at home to rivals Eastbourne (3pm).

And after racing for Birmingham at The Arena-Essex Raceway last week, Parkinson-Blackburn is relishing the chance to be back so soon.

He said: “To score 9+1 in my first meeting wasn’t too bad in the end but it was definitely a good night for learning.

I’m happy to be back so soon and hopefully I can show I’m a quick learner by scoring some points for Lakeside – and hopefully getting at least one race win!

Kelvin was at the Speedway Grand Prix Academy at Cardiff that I was involved in the other weekend.

He was great with all of the riders and it was good to hear a few pieces of advice and get a few tips from someone like him.

I’m sure I’ll learn even more from him while I’m one of his riders for the day and I’m looking forward to it.”

You can read more from both Parkinson-Blackburn and Kelvin Tatum, plus keep up to date with all the latest from around the league in your copy of ‘Hammer Time’, available at the track on Sunday for £2.

The action kicks off with Junior Races from 2.30pm, with the first race of the main National League encounter at 3pm.
