Down, but not out

The Vortex Lakeside Hammers will take the Speedway World Cup week to regroup both on and off-track to prepare for a final push for a play-off place, which will now need to be won on the road as well as at home following the 43-47 defeat last night to Swindon, the only team to win at The Raceway this season.

Following the defeat, Vortex Hammers Co-Promoter Jon Cook commented “we offer no excuses having been beaten by the better team on the night. We will take the week off to see what we can do to reach that standard on track , whilst off it we will need to get the track back to its best, as we have fallen below our standards the last two weeks. An immediate decision has been taken that there will be no more on the day practise during the very hot weather, should it continue”.

Whilst the Amateur fun riders and those starting their Speedway careers take centre stage next Friday, 19th July, the Vortex Hammers will be back on track for three consecutive must win Friday fixtures starting on 26th July against Kings Lynn, Birmingham (2nd August) and Eastbourne (9th August).
