Farewell to The Raceway Schedule of Events

The following schedule of events are planned as we prepare to say goodbye to The Raceway when the Hammers take on The Glasgow Tigers this evening.

Along with six heats of Junior Racing, the annual Speedway Benevolent Fund Collection will be held, whilst former announcer Bob Miller returns to the box, and a host of Hammers legends will be in attendance.

After Leigh Lanham has ridden the final four laps, all those in attendance are invited to go on to the track to walk a last, emotional lap of The Arena Essex Raceway.

Schedule:

6.00pm Gates open.  The pits will be open to the public until 7pm.

7.00pm Former Hammer Henning Bager will take to the track

7.20pm Six heats of junior racing

7.45pm main parade

8.00pm First Race

During each of the four grading breaks, a number of Hammers legends will ride a lap of honour around the stock car track.

After Heat 14 – The annual Speedway Ben Fund Collection will take place ahead of the final race.

After heat 15 and the victory lap of the winning team, Hammers Co-Promoter Jon Cook will MC events.

Former skipper, and the club’s record points scorer and appearance maker Leigh Lanham will take to the track for the last four laps of The Raceway

After Leigh has left the track, all fans are invited to walk round for a final lap of The Raceway, including taking a souvenir scoop of shale if desired!  Entry to the track will be in front of the home straight grandstand, via the track gate adjacent to the start line.
