FIM event to be staged at Hammers Raceway

The Lakeside Hammers Management are delighted to welcome the FIM Under 21 World Cup Qualifier to the Arena Essex Raceway on Sunday 27th May, subject to a final FIM inspection on 4th May. The meeting switches venue to Essex from Scunthorpe and completes the May Fixture List meaning that after a month of inactivity the Club will be staging meetings on a weekly basis into June.

The Hammers Co Promoter Jon Cook explained: “We are all excited about staging our first full FIM event at the venue and to get behind the British Under 21’s as they try to qualify from a tough and attractive round with Australia and Denmark as well as a further qualifier. Our own Richie Worrall and Neil Vatcher will, of course, be part of that team on and off track respectively and the added opportunity to stage a meeting on a Sunday afternoon was one we were pleased to take when the BSPA needed another venue at short notice.”

The Hammers boss Stuart Douglas added: “This event is something I know our fans will look forward to. We as a Club are working hard on establishing a youth set up and it’s a great pleasure to be able to take this meeting on. Particular thanks are due to our Landlords for making the venue available at short notice on a day normally used for four wheeled action”

The Hammers Team Manager and joint Great Britain Under 21 Manager Neil Vatcher was equally delighted to hear the news and commented: “Phil (Morris) and I are really looking forward to the challenge this round brings and we believe the Arena track could work to the GB team’s advantage. I know everyone at the Club will get behind the staging and make it a day to remember”.
