Hammers back to winning ways

The Hammers bounced back from last week’s home defeat against Poole to register this impressive twenty-two point victory over the Peterborough Panthers.

The early momentum was quickly seized by the Hammers, who had last week’s star man Richie Worrall to the fore again in heat two when he passed Richard Lawson in spectacular fashion. This was followed by a couple of maximum 5-1 heat advantages as the Hammers established an early lead and only an early tactical ride win from Panthers’ guest Niels-Kristian Iversen stemmed the tide. The advantages came thick and fast too with Kauko Nieminen teaming up with both Peter Karlsson and Robert Mear to inflict early damage.

From a spectacle perspective it was the second half of the meeting that contained the highlights as far as the actual incidents were concerned with Kim Nilsson enjoying a return to the form of the early weeks of this season with a determined inside pass on Linus Sundstrom.

Hotly-tipped Panthers star Michael Jepsen Jensen picked up his first win at the Arena-Essex Raceway with a six pointer in heat ten in what turn out to be the race of the evening. The majority of the early battle was between early race leader Oliver Allen and Karlsson, whose opening battle created space to allow Jensen to slip through and take the win. Nieminen then pulled up close and managed to speed past Allen on the line.

The Panthers managed to finish the meeting on an even keel with the home team and a brace of shared heats to finish added some respectability to the scoreline.
