Hammers edge home against Bees

The Hammers managed to see off the sustained second half challenge of the Coventry Bees to edge out a 47-43 victory, leaving their hopes of contesting the play-offs at the hands of other results as they progress through the week and build to their league finale on Friday.

The result itself was an achievement as for much of the latter stages of the meeting it looked as though the Bees would overhaul them. Certainly, it took another momentous effort from Peter Karlsson and a seventeen point haul to ensure that the home ship remained steady and that the Bees’ heat leader trio were all seen off at some stage or another.

The final race saw Karlsson race past both Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls to ensure that victory went the way of the home side. Try as he might, Davey Watt was unable to find a way past, leaving the home side with two league points.
