Hammers must find consistency

The Vortex Hammers Promoter, Jon Cook, says the team must find consistency or risk slipping down the Elite League table with two huge home matches to come next week with King’s Lynn in town on Monday, 19th May, and then the following Saturday, 24th May, when Poole, including Darcy Ward, visit.

Cook, smarting from defeat at Poole, said: “Every meeting, especially away, we are looking back on what could have been and unless we address that we risk getting to October and saying the same.

A total of ten points from your heat leaders, when a couple of them aren’t even for beating opponents, is bordering on pathetic and to have two second strings contribute twenty three points, with Richard Lawson also winning heat fifteen, and take nothing away is a hugely missed opportunity.

We are bitterly disappointed with individual performances tonight and it’s a real shame when the riders concerned have been absolutely terrific up until now. Monday we need to start again and show how much we want to win.”

Wednesday’s details from away at Poole:

Poole Pirates 50: Przemyslaw Pawlicki 13+1, Kyle Newman 9+2, Chris Holder 8, Vaclav Milik 8. Maciej Janowski 6+1, Josh Grajczonek 6, Ben Hopwood 0.

Vortex Lakeside Hammers 40: Richard Lawson 13, Lewis Bridger 10, Peter Karlsson 5+1, Adam Ellis 5, Mikkel Bech 3+1, Ben Morley 2+2, Davey Watt 2.
