Lakeside 48 – Belle Vue 41

The Hammers kept their winning run going with three Elite League points against Belle Vue on Friday evening.

Operating the “rider replacement” facility for Adam Shields and drafting in guests in the form of Ricky Wells and Ulrich Ostergaard, the home side fought hard to keep the Chris Harris-led Aces at bay. The visiting Mancunian side had riders missing themselves and the absence of Rory Schlein to Grand Prix qualification duty hit them as the Australian is always a lively presence at the Arena-Essex Raceway.

Led by paid seventeen points from Piotr Swiderski and fifteen from Lee Richardson, the home side had to wait until heat ten for their first maximum heat advantage but kept their noses in front despite the Aces responding with a maximum of their own in the twelfth race.

Harris produced some magic in his last couple of rides, sweeping past Richardson on both occasions, but the Hammers number one teamed up with Swiderski to keep Patrick Hougaard at the back and ensure the full quota of points stayed south.
