The Lakeside Hammers Community Programme is proud to announce that the club’s Regional Charity for 2015 will be Little Havens Hospice.

Little Havens Hospice is set in beautiful woodland near Thundersley, Essex and cares for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, throughout the journey of their illness. As the charity receives limited government funding and is not part of the NHS, it has to raise £46,000 every week to provide the care and services that are required.

The 2015 Lakeside Hammers will feature the Little Havens logo on their race suits and the club will donate advertising and promotional space at the Arena Essex Raceway. The club will hold a bucket collection in aid of Little Havens on May 8th when the Poole Pirates visit in Elite League action and, as last year, be encouraging all fans and partners to contribute funds as part of our the ground-breaking #makeeverypointcount pledge campaign.

Peter Hall, Community Fundraiser for Little Havens Hospice, said, “I would like to thank everybody at Lakeside Hammers, and their fans, for their fantastic support last year, and to say how pleased we are to have been selected as the Hammers charity again this year. At Little Havens we care for babies, children and teenagers, by controlling pain and medication, offering respite and caring at the end of their lives. All of this care is completely free of charge and that simply wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing support of the local community and teams like Lakeside Hammers. I’d like to wish the team the best of luck for the new season.”

Hammers Community Liaison Manager Mark Sexton has visited the Hospice again over the close season and, once again, was inspired by the world-class standard of care and facilities that he saw. “The Hammers are very grateful to have the opportunity to support this wonderful charity again in 2015 and we’re determined to do what we can to help increase the profile of Little Havens Hospice and to assist their fundraising to ensure that their vital work can carry on.
