No choice says Cook

Andreas Jonsson Lakeside Vortex Hammers_Credit Anticlockwise PhotographyLakeside have reluctantly accepted they must return to Coventry this Friday after their clash at Brandon was rained off last week.

Vortex Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook says they will head to the Midlands with a heavy heart after the club exhausted all possible options to re-arrange the fixture.

They will be without No.1 Andreas Jonsson due to the Gorzow Grand Prix, whilst Richard Lawson is also riding for Premier League side Glasgow.

Cook said: “Frankly we don’t want to go short handed but such is world speedway nowadays that we had no dates open that allowed us a full team. Friday is the best of a bad lot.

“The added complication of both me and Kelvin being unavailable has seen the promotion of Paul Hurry to join us as part of the team management.

“The in-form Scott Nicholls will replace GP clashing AJ with rider replacement for Richard Lawson.

I’m sure Scott and our five regulars will bring something back for us, a point might be enough in the play-off race as things stand.”

The Vortex Hammers are in action at Wolverhampton tonight (Monday) and full reaction will follow after the meeting.
