Record amount collected for the BEN Fund

The collection in favour of the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund taken last Friday during the Vortex Hammers home victory over local rivals Eastbourne, raised the remarkable sum of £1558.32.

We have been advised by Paul Ackroyd, who administers the Fund, that this represents the largest amount ever collected for the Fund by a track and exceeds the previous record amount collected by Berwick Speedway by about £17.

Jon Cook, on behalf of the Vortex Hammers, wishes to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the collection and to Linda and George Barclay plus their team of helpers who organised the collection on behalf of the Club.

George and Linda were assisted by young riders Nathan Ablitt and Tom Brennan pictured (who were also delighted to have had the opportunity of putting in some demonstration laps) plus the Gabittas family (GAB Racing), Gary and Stan Tillett and the Wilkinson family.
