Richard just misses out

Richard-Lawson_Lakeside-Hammers_170316_TGS505Vortex Hammers star Richard Lawson narrowly missed out on a place in the British Championship final at the National Speedway Stadium.

After scoring two third places and one second place in his opening qualifying rides, Lawson responded with two heat victories in his final two rides to reach the race-off with 10 points, where he met the three other highest qualifying riders Robert Lambert, Steve Worrall and Scott Nichols.

Despite making the gate and entering the back straight in second, local Belle Vue favourite Worrall cut underneath him on the entry to the third bend, which resulted in Lambert and Worrall joining Danny King and Craig Cook in the final.

The final itself was won by Danny King, who rode a brave wide line to see off Cook as conditions deteriorated.
