Victory over Wolves
The Hammers claimed victory in this live televised clash with a two man Wolves team missing out in an eventful last couple of races.
The meeting was effectively decided in the penultimate heat fourteen when Ludvig Lindgren lifted and crashed out on the third turn whilst under a heavy challenge from Robert Mear. After a lengthy wait for the decision, Lindgren was excluded and the Hammers claimed a match-winning 5-1 through Mear and Piotr Swiderski.
The final heat was equally eventful, with both sides chasing the extra league point. A quick start from Swiderski took him to the front ahead of Fredrik Lindgren but he locked up too tight and fell, leaving team mate Lee Richardson with nowhere to go.
Richardson eventually took to his feet but didn’t show for the re-run, nursing a hand injury – and with Swiderski excluded it was Adam Shields who took his skippers’ place, cruising round for the solitary point to ensure the Hammers took the victory but Wolves headed home with the consolation third point.
