Vital day for Hammers

This Friday’s home match against the Birmingham Brummies will be a vital one for the Lakeside Hammers as they must gain all three Elite League points available to continue their aim of reaching the Play Offs.

As previously announced the Hammers will be without their Finnish rider, Kauko Nieminen, who has to ride for his Premier League club, Leicester, the same evening. His place will be taken by Wolverhampton’s Australian, Ty Proctor. He rode for the Hammers two weeks ago when he scored paid 10 points against Peterborough and the Essex based Club will be hoping for a similar performance from him against the Brummies.

Birmingham will be without their Pole, Krzysztof Kasprzak, due to difficulties over his availability relating to his Polish club. The Brummies Promotion will bring in Poole’s Davey Watt as the replacement at No.1. Watt has also appeared in the Hammers colours this season having covered for Adam Shields last month in the match against Swindon. In that match he scored 12 points from his 5 rides, which included being excluded for a fall in one of his rides.

The rest of the Brummies line-up remain unchanged from those programmed to ride in the original staging of the match last Friday that ultimately fell foul of the weather. Fortunately the weather forecast for this Friday is looking good.

The expected line-ups are as follows:-

The Lakeside Hammers Team (in alphabetical order): Jonas Davidsson, Peter Ljung, Robert Mear, Kim Nilsson, Ty Proctor (guest) and Lee Richardson with ‘Rider Replacement’ for Piotr Swiderski.

The Birmingham Brummies team (in alphabetical order): Ales Dryml, Daniel King, Daniel Nermark, Ulrich Ostergaard, Aaron Summers (guest), Claus Vissing and Davey Watt (guest).

The action against the Birmingham Brummies this Friday, 2nd September, gets underway at the Arena-Essex Raceway at the normal start time of 8pm with the Grand Parade of Riders scheduled for 7.45pm. Tickets will be available from the paybooths on the night of the meeting or may be purchased in advance via the Club’s website at www.lakesidehammers.co
