Vortex Hammers stay on track

The Vortex Hammers victory over arch rivals Eastbourne has kept the Club’s Play Off hopes alive although they are likely to to have to race the rest of the year without Polish star Sebastian Ulamek.

Ulamek was detained overnight at Basildon Hospital after sustaining a broken collarbone, rib and hip injuries after being hit from behind by Eagles captain Cameron Woodward, in an accident that also saw Hammers asset Kim Nilsson sustain a suspected broken ankle.

Jon Cook, the Vortex Hammers Co promoter commented: “Our best wishes, of course, go to both riders from a crash that marrred the evening but well done to our remaining six riders on a job well done and particularly on a superb contribution from Kevin Doolan”

The Club wishes to publicly thank Linda Barclay, her team and all fans present for an extraordinary Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund collection, which raised over £1400 on the night.
