Hammers Petition reaches 3,000

The Hammers are thrilled by the fantastic response to our on-line petition and the fact that we have reached our initial target of 3,000 signatures (with nearly 1,500 comments) is a big boost to our campaign to return the club to Thurrock.

The petition will remain open and having reached ‘basecamp’, we will now increase the target to 5,000.  Petitions are a simple and effective way of keeping campaigns alive and we are confident that ours is demonstrating a significant level of support for the club and our sport.

The Hammers Community Manager Mark Sexton, who is heading up the campaign commented “The borough of Thurrock is attracting a substantial inward investment and its ever growing population will demand a mix of uses for the available land”

“Our petition is designed to help local decision makers understand our position and ambition to be an integral part of the sporting and leisure landscape. Other discussions and representations will continue to be held with interested parties and Council officials/representatives.”

“Thurrock Council is currently undertaking a public consultation until March 8th (see previous Press Release here) and we would encourage supporters to engage with this process and attend upcoming public events that are planned for this month.”
