Battered Brummies

The Hammers swept through to the semi finals of the cup with this thumping victory over Birmingham.

The home side enjoyed a points spree as they followed up Thursday night’s victory at Perry Barr with this thirty four points win, led from the front by maximum men Lee Richardson, Piotr Swiderski and Stuart Robson.

Richardson completed a maximum double over the two legs from the front, rarely troubled as he took a full eighteen pointer alongside team mate Swiderski, who took a similar score of the paid variety that included a stunning outside pass of Krsysztof Kasprzak in heat eleven. Elbows adrfit and high up against the fence, Swiderski was rewarded for a determined effort with a superb race victory, the highlight of his full score.

Robson was full value once again and his fifteen point total included a number of from-the-back passes of which there were many highlights, although probably the most impressive was in heat eight when he swept through from last place to second to join Richardson. Not to be taken lightly when in this mood, his final outing of the night was also a stunner, passing James Wright in style to join Kauko Nieminen.

The Brummies had number one and former Hammers Kasprzak well off colour, clouting the fence in heat one as he drifted wide and failing to trouble the race winners all night.  The returning Ulrich Ostergaard performed well over the first few races, winning his first couple of heats before tailing off over the latter half of the meeting.
