Captain’s call to arms

Great Britain Speedway captain Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris says home fans can help his side seal an unexpected victory in the Ashes Test Series against Australia at Lakeside’s, Arena-Essex Raceway on Friday night.

Buoyed on by a terrific win against Australia at Poole on Wednesday, Harris said: “It was a terrific victory and the team are aiming for the same again at Lakeside.  Hopefully the fans will turn out in force and get behind us as it would be a great boost to our World Cup hopes to go into that competition with a series win already under our belts.”

Lakeside are gearing up for a night to remember with Union Jacks for the kids and an extension of their open pits policy until 7.15pm to allow fans to get up close to the riders and their machines.

Admission prices are £17.50 for Adults £13 for Concessions and Kids aged 6 to 16 inclusive are reduced to £1 for the night. Programmes remain at £2.50.

Lakeside hammers current Season Ticket Holders will be allowed normal access to the inner parking areas and the Club is subsidising their admission with prices at £10 for Adults and £8 for Concessions, which will include a programme.

The Hammers Co promoter Jon Cook stated in the build up to the big night: “With the weather set fair and the Series to win for Great Britain we hope everyone will get behind the National team. We feel that admission prices are set at a reasonable level for a meeting of this class and importance and with the kids only paying a quid we hope to see plenty of youngsters enjoying the International action. It’s also great to be able to reward our own Season Ticket holders for the faith they have shown in us every season but particularly over this past winter.”
