Hammers all set for big night

The Lakeside Hammers in proud association with The Royal Navy are all set for this evening’s home leg of the Play Off Semi Final against local rivals, the Eastbourne Eagles.

All of the Hammers riders came through their various weekend racing commitments and with the weather holding over the weekend for the Banger World Final, which was staged yesterday at the Arena-Essex Raceway, all preparations are all in place for tonight’s big meeting.

All of the team, apart from Robert Mear, have been in action over the past two days. The Hammers captain, Lee Richardson, rode at Eastbourne on Saturday. Jonas Davidsson, Peter Ljung and Kim Nilsson were involved in the Swedish Finals, which saw Nilsson finish in third place in the U-21 Final before joining his two fellow Hammers in the senior National Championships. Davidsson reached the Final but had to be content with fourth place in a meeting that saw former Hammers and Grand Prix star, Andreas Jonsson, take the title. Stuart Robson rode in two meetings yesterday for his Premier League side Newcastle in their home and away Cup matches against the Premier League leaders Glasgow. Robert Mear, although not involved in competitive racing over the weekend, has had practice sessions arranged by the Club to ensure that all the team are ready for tonight’s action.

With a dry weather forecast for today and a huge local derby to look forward to advance ticket sales for this evening’s meeting are already at a record level.
