Kids for a quid on Friday

The kids are in for a treat this Easter Good Friday at the Arena-Essex Raceway as the Lakeside Hammers have reduced admission prices to just £1 for all children aged 16 and under with those under six free for their big local derby clash with top of the table Eastbourne Eagles.

The Hammers season looks set for lift off after a great away win at Belle Vue on Monday but Friday’s meeting looks to be one of the toughest of the season. The meeting starts at 1pm and admission also includes the follow on debut match for the Hackney Hawks at 3pm.

The Hammers Co Promoter Jon Cook explained: “We staged the British Under 21 Final last week and due to a mix up beyond our control kids admission prices rose to £5 rather than our normal £3 and this created understandable ill feeling amongst those attending.

“Whilst this was not the fault of the Club we feel responsible enough to drop our prices for this meeting to repay those that attended as well as encourage other families to visit for a great double header of action that will see 30 heats of racing.”

On the win at Belle Vue Cook stated: “Stuart and I were having serious concerns, as I am sure were our fans, as to whether the top five would ever all fire at the same time but last night showed just what we are capable of when that happens and the key now is to push forward and climb up the table in a season of very balanced teams.”
