Young Hammers edge closer
The Lakeside Hammers took a step towards entering a full Young Hammers team in next season’s National League after a successful end to their joint Hackney Hawks campaign on Friday.
The Lakeside Hammers Co Promoter Jon Cook explained: “Our fans showed their support last night and I would like to say we took a big step towards putting in a full team into the National League in 2012, subject to our landlord’s continued help and approval at the National League AGM.
“The meeting itself was not the most professional or free flowing we have ever staged but it was a sign of the night and the spirit of the fans that the only complaints I had all evening were from supporters about both Mark Baldock and Brandon Freemantle being dropped from their fourth rides by team manager John Sampford.
It seems at least our fans don’t view this as a win at all costs level and the biggest cheer of the night came for Jack Kingston’s maiden National League race win coming after his ‘Vultures Race’ victory earned him a team spot.
If we enter next season riders like Jack and Mark along with lads like Adam Shepherd and Jack White Williams will be offered spots and we will put results very secondary to developing new talent. ”
