Lakeside Duo’s delight

Lakeside Hammers promoters Stuart Douglas and Jon Cook were delighted with their teams Good Friday showing as the Essex side won home and away against rivals Eastbourne, reversing the previous seasons results.

A delighted Douglas commented  “It was great to arrive at a packed Raceway and enjoy such a great atmosphere and performance from the boys. It’s tremendous to have Davey and PK around now to give Lee that extra bit of support and I feel the team is already gelling well.  All of the lads really want to be here and make this a special year and the determination was best summed up by Robert who’d had so much misfortune all afternoon but popped up with a Heat 14 win and then carried things on down in Sussex with another fine performance as did Kim. We are already showing we are more than just a three man team and I think as Robert and Kim gain more experience we will improve further”.

Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook added “6 points in the bag on a day when other fancied teams won away was crucial. When Eastbourne came back at us in the away meeting, we had Davey Watt having problems with his back and we looked on the ropes, but the boys came back strong again and although we could have tied up the extra point, it’s also the case that at 12 points up with three heats to run,  the home side were actually on three 5-1’s before re-runs were called,  so we can’t be too disappointed.

I’d also like to give great credit to Neil Vatcher in his choice of Kyle Howarth to guest and to Kyle and his pit crew who were a pleasure to have on board and I am sure he will have a huge future in the sport, he’s a great prospect for Britain.”

The Hammers now move onto home action this coming friday when  the Peterborough Panthers and the phenomenon that is Michael Jesper Jensen hit town.
