Hammers aim to keep winning habit

The Lakeside Hammers go into tonight’s home Elite League meeting with the Belle Vue Aces with both teams hitting form with away wins on Thursday evening.

The Hammers steadied their League position with a great win at Swindon and are now targeting further League points in their clashes with the Aces to continue their climb towards the Play Offs. In turn the Aces claimed a win away at Birmingham. These two results nicely sets up tonight’s match at the Arena-Essex Raceway.

The Hammers Co promoter Jon Cook stated at the conclusion of the match at Swindon: “The boys were terrific at the Abbey Stadium, Blunsdon. Right from the start we showed that we meant business and along with a sublime performance from Lee Richardson I felt the rest of the team, with Peter (Ljung) and Piotr (Swiderski) in particular, showed that even when missing the start they had the determination to fire themselves to the front.

I was very pleased for our Team Manager Neil Vatcher, who has started to really find his feet with the team and his calls from the use of Rider Replacement at No.2 to changes in the meeting were spot on. He and the boys have a great rapport and his arrival at the Club has been a big positive. This is a very good way to start our busy period and I hope we can carry that through tonight and on Monday up in Manchester although I think we may have to did deep to achieve our target of a minimum of seven League points from the three meetings”.

The action between the Hammers and the Belle Vue Aces gets underway this evening at the Arena-Essex Raceway, the home of the Lakeside Hammers, at 8pm. Prior to that, the Grand Parade of the riders will be at 7.45pm.
