Hammers face Friday Double

Lakeside Hammers Press & Practice Day, Speedway, Arena Essex, Purfleet, Britain - 17 Mar 2016

Lakeside will now face a double date with King’s Lynn on Good Friday after tonight’s meeting at the Adrian Flux Arena was put back by 24 hours due to rain.

The Vortex Hammers will host the Stars in their Elite League opener at the Arena-Essex Raceway at 1pm before dashing to Norfolk for the return fixture at 8pm.

It means an exciting, action-packed Bank Holiday for the new-look Essex outfit – and co-promoter Jon Cook is relishing a bumper day of racing.

Cook said: “With tonight’s meeting at King’s Lynn being postponed, it means a bonanza of speedway for the fans with two meetings in one day.

Our Good Friday meeting at home is always one of the biggest of the season, and it now gives the fans a chance to head over to King’s Lynn afterwards to see the team ride away for the first time as well. It’s going to be a busy day for everyone but we are looking forward to it and hoping to get off to a really strong start.”

For fans unable to make the journey to Norfolk, a further 12 heats of Hagon Shocks Academy racing, include 125cc, 150cc and 500cc bikes, will take place after the main Elite League meeting.
