The kids are alright

The Lakeside Hammers younger generation of fans are in for a treat this Saturday night at the Arena-Essex Raceway when the home team entertain the current League Champions, the Coventry Bees, in a must win encounter for both teams Play Off aspirations.

Not only do they get to see Speedway sensation Emil Sayfutdinov in action as well as latest Hammers star Kim Nilsson but they will also benefit from reduced admission of just £1 for all school age children.

On top of that, to mark the return of Saturday Speedway to the Raceway, all kids will be given a free racecard that incorporates the scorechart and an autograph section plus a special Hammers pen to enable them to fill in the scores as the action takes place.

The Hammers Promoter Jon Cook explained: “We have operated our ‘Kids for a Quid’ Summer Holiday scheme successfully for several seasons now and it will continue for the following three Friday’s during August. However, with this being such a special meeting and with the Saturday staging meaning fans can arrive that much easier and earlier we thought it was a great chance for the kids to get some autographs and then learn the pleasures of filling in a programme.”

The meeting against the Bees starts at 8pm with the grand parade of riders scheduled for 7.45pm. The Arena-Essex Raceway is situated next to the Thurrock services off junction 30/31 of the M25 just north of the Lakeside Shopping complex. Admission prices are: Adults – £16, Senior Citizens, Students and Disabled – £12, Unemployed and Children aged 17 and 18 – £10, Children aged 6 to 16 inclusive – £1 with children under 6 – Free if accompanied by an paying adult.
