Hammers dominate Wolves

Lakeside reignited their Elite League play-off ambitions with a much-needed 55-37 win over Wolverhampton at the Arena-Essex Raceway.

Swedish star Kim Nilsson struck a faultless, six-ride paid maximum whilst skipper Andreas Jonsson also went unbeaten as the Vortex Hammers claimed a convincing victory. British duo Lewis Bridger and

Edward Kennett also roared to double figures to cover the absence of Richard Lawson whilst Lewis Kerr recorded a race win in what was an excellent team display.

It was a perfect response from the Purfleet outfit after their shock home defeat against Poole a fortnight ago.

Co-promoter Jon Cook was in jubilant mood after comfortably dispatching of the league leaders for the second time this season.

Said Cook: “It was a fantastic performance from the team, and a great way to recover from the home defeat

All the plaudits go to Kim Nilsson for a truly immaculate paid maximum, although AJ (Andreas Jonsson), Edward (Kennett) and Lewis Bridger were absolutely superb as well.

We’re just delighted with the team effort and the way the lads showed fantastic spirit to bounce back from that defeat against Poole last time out.

It was just what we needed, and it sets us up nicely for our next home meeting against Swindon next Friday.”
